In this letter dated April 2, 1952, Owen Lattimore and his wife thanked Helen for the moral support her letter offered during a difficult period, telling her that encouragement like hers gave them a sense that fundamental decency in the country would ultimately see them through the fear and controversy surrounding him.

Letter from Eleanor Roosevelt to Helen, 1956
Writing from her home at Val-Kill on March 14, 1956, Eleanor Roosevelt apologized to Helen for a delayed reply — her letter had arrived while Mrs. Roosevelt was away in Minnesota. She wrote warmly of her regret at missing the chance to see Helen and her son John.

In this letter from January 15, 1970, Ginger Rogers thanked Helen for a kind note she’d sent about a Christmas television special, and closed with New Year’s wishes for the whole family.
